他動詞は目的語を伴う。

例えば
marry, discuss, approach, resemble, enter, oppose, attend

自動詞は目的語を伴わない。前置詞が続いたりする。

例えば
agree, complain, apologize

例文：

Surprisingly, she married a guy whom she used to complain about his smell.
驚くことに、彼女は散々臭いについて文句を言っていた男と結婚した。
